Stand Up At The Cheese Shop Xmas Show 1993 (#2)
The second Cheese Shop Xmas Show was the first for Colin Lane and Frank Wood (as he was then) as a duo. Previously members of The Found Objects (with Scott Casely), they debuted as Lano and Woodley in their show Fence earlier in that year. They were joined by The Scared Weird Little Guys (freshly back from 'conquering' the US) to perform the Found Objects' classic song 'Punt Road'. The Scardies, in their own spot, featured a song about what life would be like in the year 2000, which mentioned Australia having a Prime Minister by the name of (then Victorian Premier, the widely disliked) Jeff Kennett.
Andrew Goodone proved he was no comedy slouch by appearing onstage in the first bracket to collect random topics from the audience only to return in the second to deliver the jokes he'd written about them. Tony Martin read out an alternative version of the Nativity Story, and Anthony Morgan, whom Dave deliberately placed in the middle of the second bracket so that he wouldn't take up too much time, performed for almost three times longer than anyone else.
1993 saw the Xmas Show debut of one of Dave's favourite comedians, Lynda Gibson, who passed away only a few years after Dave himself. She too is greatly missed.
